Surviving Summertime Pregnancy

When most people hear summer pregnancy, they think of being hot and uncomfortable for a solid three months, but that doesn’t have to be the case! With the days getting warmer and longer, we thought it would be a good idea to share some tips for staying cool and comfy all season long!

First and foremost, it’s important to protect yourself from the sun. Not only can sun exposure lead to uncomfortable burns, but elongated sun exposure can cause dehydration and overheating. Keep your cool by spending some extra time indoors or in the shade this summer, and Bring on that SPF! Oh, and treat yourself to some fun summer clothing that’s nice and breathable - the options for maternity wear today are endless!

Next up, get your exercise in by finding a pool near you that offers water aerobics! This low impact exercise is easier on joints (perfect for expectant mommas) and allows you to stay cool even while working those muscles! In general, whether in a pool, pond, or the ocean - if waves are minimal - taking a dip is a surefire way to keep your cool, even on the warmest summer days!

Another essential for summertime pregnancy survival? Sip on something sweet! Whether it’s a fun mocktail that gives you the chance to enjoy happy hour sans libations, or a smoothie from all those fresh summer fruits and veggies, sipping on something delicious is sure to brighten up your day!

Lastly, take this chance to escape the sweltering heat and treat yourself to a babymoon! Travel somewhere you’ve been wanting to go, and chances are you’ll forget all about the downsides of summer pregnancy!
